The Redwood Rangers will challenge the Mt. Whitney Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Redwood will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Redwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past El Diamante, posting a 61-14 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rangers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Miners are ranked 712th).

Jimmie Burk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 344 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.0 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 19 rushing touchdowns on the season. Jairus Brooks also helped with two scores in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Redwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 359 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brooks, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mt. Whitney played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 42-6 loss at the hands of Porterville. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Redwood will have to contain Kayden Silvas as he made an impact in Mt. Whitney's last game. He rushed for 87 yards and one TD.
Mt. Whitney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Redwood, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Redwood has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 373.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Mt. Whitney, though, as they've been averaging only 205.4 total yards. Will Redwood be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Pioneers flip the script?
Everything went Redwood's way against Mt. Whitney in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Redwood made off with a 28-7 win. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
