The Amelia Academy Patriots were the 59-52 winner over the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Amelia Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 54-31 walloping at the hands of Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Amelia Academy had strong showings from Kyle Anderson, who scored 16 points along with four steals, and Levi Borum, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Anderson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Barbour, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Amelia Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amelia Academy will square off against Kenston Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenston Forest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Amelia Academy in Virginia (Kenston Forest is ranked 171st, while Amelia Academy is ranked 425th). As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, they will head out on the road to face off against Brunswick Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick Academy and Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
