The South Ripley Raiders will face off against the Greensburg Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Ripley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
South Ripley barely beat Shawe Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders beat the Hilltoppers on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Raiders' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Braxton Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Trenton Smith was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Gabe Stone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Greensburg entered their matchup against Batesville on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pirates fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs.
Caleb Greiwe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
South Ripley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Greensburg, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Ripley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Greensburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Ripley might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Greensburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
