Having just played yesterday, the Columbia Central Lions will jump right back in to play the Goodpasture Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Columbia Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They skirted past Ezell-Harding Christian 51-49.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbia Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Saviya Morgan, who scored 15 points. The matchup was Morgan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tionna Davis, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Goodpasture Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 49-47 win from a begrudging Cougarssquad.
Columbia Central's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Goodpasture Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Columbia Central skirted past Goodpasture Christian 50-47 when the teams last played back in December of 2020. Does Columbia Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Goodpasture Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
