After four games on the road, Chiawana is heading back home. They will take on the Kennewick Lions at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Chiawana has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 376 points over their last five matches.
Chiawana fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Kamiakin on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to the Braves. While losing is never fun, Chiawana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Kamiakin is ranked fourth).
Despite the defeat, Chiawana had strong showings from Gianna Medelez, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists, and Kaia Foster, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Medelez has scored all season. Malia Ruud was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kennewick unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hermiston by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Kennewick has suffered yet this season.
Chiawana's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Kennewick, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
