The Brownfield Cubs will face off against the Stanton Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brownfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
While Brownfield's win against Crane wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cubs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Cranes on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Cranes: they've now won three in a row.

Emmanuel Martinez

The team relied heavily on Emmanuel Martinez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jayden Tijerina was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Stanton nor Lamesa made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Buffaloes took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes. The contest marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Gage McCown was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Nathan Armendarez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
Brownfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-9-1. As for Stanton, they moved to 12-4 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brownfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Stanton struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brownfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Stanton when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffaloes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
