The Cross Christian Academy Centurions's road trip will continue as they head out to face Shipley at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Cross Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 506 points over their last seven games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Cross Christian Academy gave their fans yet another huge win back in December of 2023. Everything went their way against Hightstown as Cross Christian Academy made off with a 84-61 victory. Given Cross Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 16th in Delaware, while Hightstown is ranked 192nd in New Jersey), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cross Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tavaris Hall out in front who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hall has scored all season. Xavier Brewington was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Meanwhile, Shipley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. The contest between Shipley and Westtown wasn't particularly close, with Shipley falling 63-47. Shipley was down 54-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Shipley had strong showings from Henry Rassmussen, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Matt Lange, who scored 13 points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevie Maniatis, who scored six points.
Cross Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Shipley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Cross Christian Academy came up short against Shipley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 73-68. Can Cross Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
