West Montgomery took their match against North Moore on Friday by a conclusive 35-14 score. The rankings were on West Montgomery's side, but they didn't forecast quite such a lopsided result.
West Montgomery got off to a slow start in their matchup last week, but they had no such trouble against North Moore as they cruised to a 21-point first half. North Moore wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 21-7 heading into the break. West Montgomery put the matchup away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Among those leading the charge for West Montgomery was senior Payton Coble, who rushed for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns. In fact, with ten tackles Coble was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Evan Hurley, who racked up nine tackles.
It's more conference action for West Montgomery and North Moore in their upcoming matches. West Montgomery will be staying on the road next week, facing off against North Rowan. North Rowan took a loss in their last contest and are no doubt out to reverse West Montgomery's good fortune. As for North Moore, they will go up against North Stanly. North Stanly have averaged 54 points over the course of their past five games, so North Moore might be in for a challenge.
