Manteo is 2-8 against Holmes since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Manteo Redskins will be playing at home against the Holmes Aces at 5:00 p.m. Manteo will be strutting in after a win while Holmes will be coming in after a defeat.
Manteo's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over Northeastern. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Makenna Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gray was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bridgett Berry, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Creef, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Holmes' undefeated season came to an end after three games on Friday. They lost 20-9 to Bear Grass Charter. The loss was the Aces' first of the season.
Ainsley Parrish made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Jordan Ward was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Holmes fell to 3-1. As for Manteo, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Manteo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .455. However, it's not like Holmes struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manteo might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Holmes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Manteo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
