The Ashley Screaming Eagle will head out on the road to face off against the Laney Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Ashley came into Tuesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over South Brunswick. The victory was just what Ashley needed coming off of a 53-30 loss in their prior match.
MacKenzie Morton and Anna Benfield were among the main playmakers for Ashley as the former scored 13 points along with five steals and the latter scored six points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Jaeden Hudson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Laney has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 37-26 to West Brunswick on Tuesday.
Ashley now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Laney, they dropped their record down to 11-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Ashley suffered a grim 48-22 defeat to the Buccaneers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Ashley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
