Avery County had won two straight games and Kylie Holtsclaw did her part to make it three on Wednesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Wilkes Central Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory thanks in part to Holtsclaw, who had 22 digs and four aces. She has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Avery County was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-12, 25-23.

Avery County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hallie Johnson led the charge by getting 15 assists and 11 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Holtsclaw, who had 11 digs and three aces.

Avery County's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wilkes Central, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Avery County will welcome Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Vikings their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Wilkes Central, they are taking a road trip to take on North Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
