The biggest upset of the week belonged to Socorro, who took down 736th ranked Socorro, 28-19.
Franklin extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 1 this week by beating Coronado, 45-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Cougars.
Angel Garcia put up the best numbers through the air as Montwood defeated El Dorado. He finished with a total of 19 completions for 299 yards and four touchdowns. Garcia's favorite target this week was Ruben Solis, who caught five passes for 107 yards.
Isak Washington was the best wideout in the league this week as Americas topped Bel Air. Washington tallied three receptions for 118 yards. Alberto Delgado helped Americas' passing attack out by catching four balls for 59 yards.
Vince Garcia was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 230 yards on 23 carries as Franklin beat the Highlanders. Cameron Candelaria also contributed to the rushing game with 80 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Candelaria and Garcia Daren Walker's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Candelaria leads the league in passing with 1171 yards, while Garcia has rushed for 748 yards this season. The Rams' Warren Redix leads the league in receiving yards with 501 on 38 catches.
A big matchup in 5A Region I District 1 this week will be when Americas takes on Montwood. Patrick Melton's team is currently in fourth, while Chuck Veliz's team is in second.
Eastwood moved up to 740 from 810 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Troopers were able to make the jump by beating the Bulldogs 28-19.
