It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Saginaw Rough Riders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They slipped by Aledo 58-57. Given Saginaw's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Aledo is ranked 428th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saginaw's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Roseberry, who scored 18 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Cameron Thomas, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and six blocks.
Saginaw pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.67 points across that stretch. As for Aledo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Saginaw will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Joshua at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. Aledo and Paschal will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th at.
