Lewis County is 0-10 against Summertown since September of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Lewis County came up short against Loretto and fell 3-1.
Lewis County couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Loretto a tough time in the third set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-21, 31-33, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Summertown also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Summit by a score of 3-1. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-19 in the first set.
Summertown started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-15.
Lewis County will need to focus on slowing down Zoei Bonner, one of several Summertown players who made an impact when they last played. She had 21 assists and four digs. Bonner has been hot, having posted 21 or more assists the last six times she's played. Annalee Kelly was another key player, getting 11 digs.
Summertown suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 32-8. As for Lewis County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Lewis County suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Summertown in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
