The Briar Woods Falcons will head out to challenge the Lightridge Bolts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Briar Woods has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, it was close, but Briar Woods sidestepped Brentsville District for a 4-3 win.

Caprice Bohmer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Sophia Castellon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Natalie Posusney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lightridge put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Osbourn Park a 1-0 shutout. The one-run effort marked the Bolts' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Peyton Robinson, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Osbourn Park off the board.
At the plate, Lightridge's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emmi Harris, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Harris has hit this season.
Lightridge pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Briar Woods, their record now sits at 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Briar Woods has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lightridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Briar Woods came up short against Lightridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
