The Morristown Yellow Jackets will be playing at home against the Franklin County Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morristown is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Tuesday, Morristown made easy work of Hagerstown and carried off a 54-28 victory.
Morristown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was DDanika Rutledge, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds. Rutledge has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Keithley, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin County earned a 43-36 victory over Lawrenceburg last Wednesday. Given Franklin County's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Lawrenceburg is ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nicole Mears out in front who scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mears has scored at least 25% of Franklin County's points. Ruby Singer was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
The losses dropped Morristown to 1-7 and Hagerstown to 0-6.
Morristown came up short against Franklin County in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 54-41. Will Morristown have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
