High Desert recap Oct. 30, 2012
Bishop extended the longest winning streak in High Desert this week by beating Kern Valley, 34-31. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Broncos.
Desert moved up to 674 from 703 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Scorpions climbed the ranks as a result of beating California City 35-14.
Curran Simpson was the best wideout in the league this week as Bishop defeated the Broncs. Simpson racked up five receptions for 99 yards. Cy Scott helped Bishop's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.
Kyle Batchelder provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Bill Egan's team bested Kern Valley. He completed six passes for 101 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 91 yards.
Dalton Gallis threw for 135 yards and four touchdowns. He went seven-15 with one interceptions.
Kevin Enciso was the most productive running back in High Desert this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 184 yards as Frazier Mountain defeated Ben Goffinet's team. Teammate Matt Regan added to the ground attack by rushing for 81 yards.
Kyle Hall made the biggest impact on defense this week as Desert beat the Ravens. The senior grabbed one interception and forced one fumble.
Thanks to the talents of Matthew Moore and Brandon Valdez Chris Hinton's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Moore leads the league in passing with 1556 yards, while Valdez has rushed for 985 yards this season. The Broncs' Cody Little leads the league in receiving yards with 633 on 24 catches.
The Scorpions' Valdez needs only 15 yards against Kern Valley next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Desert takes on the Broncs. The Scorpions are in third place, while Kern Valley is in second place.
Bishop and the Broncs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Bishop eventually emerging with a 34-31 victory. Batchelder in the win.
