Baseball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Halifax Academy

Cape Fear Christian Academy hadn't done well against Halifax Academy recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cape Fear Christian Academy put the hurt on Halifax Academy with a sharp 11-3 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Fisher Stancil was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Stancil was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Tyson Stephens was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Cape Fear Christian Academy is undefeated when Stephens posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Conner Parrish was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cape Fear Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Halifax Academy only posted a batting average of .250.

Cape Fear Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. Halifax Academy dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cape Fear Christian Academy has already played their next game, an 18-3 win against Lee Christian on the 24th. As for Halifax Academy, they will face off against Kerr-Vance Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kerr-Vance Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.88 runs per game on average), something Halifax Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
