Eisenhower is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Colton is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Yellowjackets at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Eisenhower barely beat Notre Dame the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Milani Paige, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Cari Nelson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Eisenhower always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Notre Dame only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Colton got the win against San Gorgonio on Monday by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
ANDREA VARELA made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, STEPHANIE DELACRUZ was incredible, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was ALYSSA RAMIREZ, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Colton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Eisenhower, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eisenhower hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Colton struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eisenhower couldn't quite finish off Colton in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
