The Stargate School Eagles had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 64-56 win over SkyView Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Stargate School was led to victory by Dylan Perkins and Connor Rusch. Perkins dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Rusch scored 26 points. Hunter Roark was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyle Cosart, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Dove, who scored 15 points along with five assists.
Stargate School pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for SkyView Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.
Stargate School will square off against Bruce Randolph at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bruce Randolph will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Stargate School is ranked 97th). As for SkyView Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Arrupe Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
