The Brunswick Pirates pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 79-56 loss at the hands of Fairhope. While losing is never fun, Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 82nd in Georgia, while Fairhope is ranked tenth in Alabama).
Brunswick's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nasir Poole, who scored 13 points, and Caleb Butler who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Battle, who scored 12 points.
Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Fairhope, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Brunswick will play host again and welcome Ware County, where tip off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fairhope and Glynn Academy will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
