The Capital Bruins will square off against the Sentinel Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Capital will be strutting in after a victory while Sentinel will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Capital turned things around against Hellgate on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 15-0 shutout. The contest marked the Bruins' most dominant win of the season so far.
Calyse Hendrix looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ella Krepps was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Emmert, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Capital always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hellgate only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Sentinel faced Helena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Alyssa Hanninen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Sentinel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Papp, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Capital's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Sentinel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Capital hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .399. However, it's not like Sentinel struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Capital might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Sentinel in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
