Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anastasia Headley and Avonti Jennings Lead St. Edward's to Victory

St. Edward won the last time they faced Melbourne Central Catholic and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Edward's Pirates took down the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers 46-30. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

St. Edward's was led to victory by Avonti Jennings and Anastasia Headley. Jennings dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards, while Headley posted nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That's the most rebounds Jennings has posted since back in December of 2023. Sommer Soderman was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

St. Edward's has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points per game. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

St. Edward's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 39-17 victory against Calvary Christian Academy on the 9th. Melbourne Central Catholic has also already played their next match, a 55-24 win against Pineapple Cove Classical Academy on the 9th.
