Brunswick is 8-2 against Medina since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Battling Bees at 5:00 p.m. Brunswick will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Friday, Brunswick needed a bit of extra time to put away Revere. They had just enough and edged out the Minutemen 10-9.
Brunswick let Elena Osowski and Ava Beas run wild. Osowski went 4-for-6 with three RBI, while Beas went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Osowski has posted over her last ten contests. Lilly Leichliter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Brunswick hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, while Medina put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Cleveland Heights. The Battling Bees put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 21-0 victory. The Battling Bees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.
Addie Connelly was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Connelly was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Katie Rubino was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Swinko, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Brunswick's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Medina, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Brunswick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Medina struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brunswick came out on top in a nail-biter against Medina in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Battling Bees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
