Minneola is 1-9 against Hodgeman County since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Minneola Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hodgeman County Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. on January 26th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Minneola suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-43 loss at the hands of South Gray.
Meanwhile, Hodgeman County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spearville. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hodgeman County might have lost, but man, Owen Reece was a machine: he scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 53.4% of Hodgeman County's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazen Rydquist, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Hodgeman County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spearville only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Minneola dropped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Hodgeman County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Things could have been worse for Minneola, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-54 loss to Hodgeman County when the teams last played last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Reece, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that Minneola knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
