The Four Corners Coyotes posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They really took it to Ridgeview Global Studies Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-28 victory on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Four Corners.
Four Corners got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danielys Pena Ponce out in front who scored 21 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pena Ponce has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Cruz, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Stephanie Morales and Chelsse Jean-Giles. Morales scored eight points along with six steals, while Jean-Giles dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Jean-Giles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Four Corners' victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Four Corners won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jordan Christian Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Jordan Christian Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Ridgeview Global Studies Academy, they will be playing at home against McKeel Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
