Dalton is 0-3 against Hiram since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dalton Catamounts will head out on the road to square off against the Hiram Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Dalton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Dalton was not quite Calhoun's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Dalton fell to Calhoun 52-47. Dalton's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Eli Burt put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Drew Snyder was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two blocks.
Hiram posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 82-62 margin over Cartersville. Given Hiram's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Cartersville is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dalton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Hiram, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Dalton suffered a grim 71-46 defeat to Hiram in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Dalton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
