Baseball Recap: Calhan's Win Ends 15-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calhan). They had just enough and edged out the Ellicott Thunderhawks 17-16. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Liam Metzger, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Monger, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Calhan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are undefeated (1-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Calhan's victory ended a 15-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10-2. As for Ellicott, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12-1.

Looking ahead, Calhan will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Simla at 10:00 a.m. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Ellicott, they will welcome Colorado Springs Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Thunderhawks are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
