Basketball Recap: Patriot Prep Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Academy for Urban Scholars last Thursday, Patriot Prep Academy came back down to earth. The Patriot Prep Academy Eagles had to suffer through a 79-48 loss at the hands of the Harvest Prep Warriors. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-15.

Defeat or not, Patriot Prep Academy got some senior leadership from Cameron Thomas and Benjamin Williams. Thomas posted eight points in addition to 14 rebounds and eight blocks, while Williams put up 19 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in blocks.

Even though they lost, Patriot Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Harvest Prep had a senior duo take command as Brandon Roddy went 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points and three steals and Khalil Daniels went 8 for 14 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Daniels continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwon Pollard, who had ten points and six boards.

The loss snapped Patriot Prep Academy's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-4 record. As for Harvest Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Patriot Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-46 win against Horizon Science Academy on the 18th. As for Harvest Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-68 defeat against Lutheran West on the 18th.
