Sierra Albright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Bald Eagle Area saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Philipsburg-Osceola's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of DuBois. Mountaineers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Beavers since on Friday.
Alivia Bizzarri put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Bizzarri was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Addy Jarrett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emily Gustkey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
Philipsburg-Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Bald Eagle Area, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Bald Eagle Area was able to grind out a solid victory over Philipsburg-Osceola in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Does Bald Eagle Area have another victory up their sleeve, or will Philipsburg-Osceola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
