The Chesnee Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 68-27 loss at the hands of Landrum. Chesnee has struggled against Landrum recently, as their match on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pearl Holloway, who scored six points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Katie Faith Watson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Landrum was led to victory by Kylie Fortner and Savannah Brown. Fortner scored 14 points along with four steals, while Brown scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Brown hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Cortez, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Chesnee bumped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Landrum, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chesnee will take on Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Landrum, they will be playing at home against Greenville Tech Charter at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville Tech Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Landrum is ranked 22nd).
