The East Nicolaus Spartans will square off against the Roseville Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Nicolaus 2.2, Roseville 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
East Nicolaus' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pierce with a sharp 10-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Stevie Knight made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Gabby Sotelo was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Jazmine Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Roseville gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past River Valley 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Alyssa MacFarlane looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Roseville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carly Currie-Silhanek, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Currie-Silhanek's first of the season.
East Nicolaus' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Roseville, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything went East Nicolaus' way against Roseville in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as East Nicolaus made off with a 7-0 win. Does East Nicolaus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Roseville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
