Baseball Recap: Erath Extends Winning Streak to Four

Erath entered their tilt with Kaplan on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kaplan Pirates a 6-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Seth Leger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only four hits, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Frederick, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Landen Derouen, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Erath now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Kaplan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Erath Bobcats duke it out with Abbeville Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Abbeville has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something Erath will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kaplan, they will square off against Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Kaplan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
