Queen Creek and Desert Vista are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will host the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Queen Creek is coming into the match hot, having won their last 16 games.
Queen Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Perry, who was ranked 21st at the time (Queen Creek was ranked second). The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pumas on Saturday, sneaking past 5-3.
Alexis Mendez looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kayla Porter was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Alessia Velazquez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Desert Vista and Basha had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Thunder won by a run and slipped past the Bears 4-3. The game was the first time the Thunder have beaten the Bears on their field since February 25, 2016.
Thailee Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mckenzie Leitgen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Briski, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double.
Queen Creek pushed their record up to 25-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Vista, their win bumped their record up to 25-6.
Queen Creek couldn't quite finish off Desert Vista in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
