Baseball Recap: North Rowan Gets the Win

While North Rowan's victory against South Davidson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The North Rowan Cavaliers had just enough and edged out the South Davidson Wildcats 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Ethan Prange, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. He has become a key player for North Rowan: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Zion Gillespie was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Prange wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Rowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. North Rowan is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Rowan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 11 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. As for South Davidson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Rowan will venture away from home to challenge Thomasville at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for South Davidson, they will head out on the road to face off against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
