Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] is 8-2 against International Falls since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since May 28, 2024 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Ridge 6-5.
Aiden Bird and Jacob Coombe did most of the damage at the plate: Bird went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Coombe went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That home run marked the first that Bird has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Caz Carlson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, International Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Chisholm on Friday and fell 7-6. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hayden Swenson put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaden Korpi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Caleb Joslyn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] pushed their record up to 7-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for International Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
