It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Malad had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Nampa Christian Trojans. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Brady Showell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Malad got a massive performance out of Carter Carey, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cale Briggs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Malad's victory bumped their record up to 25-6. As for Nampa Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 21-7.
