Logan Franks looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Eaglecrest's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tavish Dey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Eaglecrest is 3-1 when Dey posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Landen Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Eaglecrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Mullen came up short against Cherry Creek on Tuesday and fell 9-5. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost five in a row.
Thomas Stewart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Stevenson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Mullen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Eaglecrest, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Eaglecrest hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mullen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Eaglecrest skirted past Mullen 3-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
