Wakefield is 0-6 against Langley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wakefield Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Langley Saxons at 7:30 p.m. Wakefield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On January 2nd, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Wakefield had to settle for a 47-44 loss against Yorktown.
Meanwhile, Langley waltzed into their match on Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 51-40 win over Yorktown. Given Langley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Yorktown is ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Langley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anya Rahman, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Daley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Langley, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Wakefield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-22 loss to Langley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Wakefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
