Baseball Recap: Aurora Gets the Win

Aurora lost to Copley last Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Greenmen walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Indians. The game was the first time the Greenmen have beaten the Indians on their field since May 2, 2022.

Aurora got a great performance from Johnny Slisz as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Slisz has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Carson Smith and Tommy Hach did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Hach got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Hach has posted since back in April.

Aurora's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Copley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aurora will head out to challenge Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greenmen are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Copley, they will challenge Brecksville-Broadview Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bees will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
