Softball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. Reno Huskies

The Carson Senators will square off against the Reno Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Reno took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Carson, who comes in off a win.

Carson barely beat North Valleys the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Senators put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-4 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Senators in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Carson got a massive performance out of Kellyn Moyle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Moyle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Brubaker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Reno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-1 to Bishop Manogue. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Huskies couldn't push the score so high this time.

Reno's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Carson, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Reno struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
