Even though the Denver City Mustangs have not done well against the Brownfield Cubs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Denver City snuck past Brownfield with a 42-37 win. Winning may never get old, but Denver City sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Several Cubs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lucy Guzman, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. Amery Pauda was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Denver City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. As for Brownfield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.
Denver City will head out on the road to take on Littlefield at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Littlefield will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Brownfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dimmitt at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Dimmitt is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
