Pierce faced Malcolm in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bluejays took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clippers. The Bluejays' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
 While Pierce ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 22-25,  25-22.
 Nora Herian paced Pierce's offense, picking up 24 kills. Herian got some help from  Adrienne Riggert and her 42 assists. Herian and  Riggert didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.
Pierce's loss dropped their record down to 24-8. As for Malcolm, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record  this season.
 Pierce does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Malcolm, they will square off against Lincoln Lutheran at 3:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
