With a playoff game on the line, the Goldwater Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Thursday. They beat the Wildcats by a goal, winning 2-1. The win was nothing new for Goldwater as they're now sitting on seven straight.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Dennis Bekric and
Anthony Mendez, who scored both of Goldwater's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 17 so far this season.
Goldwater has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Mesquite, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1.
Goldwater will head out on the road to square off against Flowing Wells at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowing Wells is on a five-game streak of home wins, Goldwater a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch. Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
