The Papillion-LaVista South Titans took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 victory over Grand Island. That's another feather in the cap for Papillion-LaVista South, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Bryson Bahl was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 25 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Frost, who scored 12 points.
Several Islanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mukadi Mukoma, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reid Kelly, who scored 10 points.
Papillion-LaVista South's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Grand Island, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Papillion-LaVista South will face off against Millard West at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Millard West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Grand Island, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Columbus at 2:00 p.m. Allowing an average of 54 points per game, Columbus has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
