The Nicholas County Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nicholas County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Nicholas County barely beat Oak Hill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Red Devils on Wednesday. The Grizzlies not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th.

Nicholas County got a big performance out of Caleb Burns, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Burns a new career-high in doubles (two). Ira Mylott was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Burns wasn't the only one making solid contact: Nicholas County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodrow Wilson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Margaretta on Wednesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flying Eagles have posted since May 1, 2024.
Tyler Wilhite was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Wilhite wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Gallaher, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Another was Maddex Sims, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Woodrow Wilson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Nicholas County, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nicholas County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Woodrow Wilson struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Nicholas County's way against Woodrow Wilson when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Nicholas County made off with an 11-5 win. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flying Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
