The Brookhaven Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Warren Central Vikings at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Brookhaven is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Brookhaven came up short against South Jones on Tuesday, falling 12-6. The Panthers have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Jayonna Pendleton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Warren Central never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Vicksburg on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gators an 18-0 shutout. Considering the Vikings have won five games by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Pant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Pant was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Warren Central got a massive performance out of Kennadi Willaims, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Willaims has posted since back in February. MC Allred was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Warren Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vicksburg only posted an OBP of .211.
Warren Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Brookhaven, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Brookhaven suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Warren Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
