Redbank Valley has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Punxsutawney Chucks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Karns City scored an imposing 66 points on Thursday, Redbank Valley still came out on top. Redbank Valley escaped with a win against Karns City by the margin of a single free throw, 67-66.
Redbank Valley can attribute much of their success to Mason Clouse, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kieran Fricko, who scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals. Clouse is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Owen Clouse, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Punxsutawney put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 49-36 win over Bradford. Given Punxsutawney's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Bradford is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redbank Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Punxsutawney, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Redbank Valley came up short against Punxsutawney when the teams last played back in February of 2020, falling 65-56. Can Redbank Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
