Avon extended the longest winning streak in Pequot - Uncas this week by beating Enfield, 26-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/University Science & Engineering was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to eighth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated Windsor Locks/Suffield/East Granby 29-16.
Gilbert-Northwestern Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Lippincott threw for 104 and one touchdown and Thomas Casey had 88 yards receiving. On the ground Tony Ortiz chipped in 185 yards. John Ambrozaitis helped Gilbert-Northwestern Regional's passing attack out by catching one ball for eight yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Curtis Field of Granby Memorial is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1039. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Avon's Colin Moore has rushed for 1455 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tommy Myers. The Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton star has 23 catches for 458 yards.
The top two teams in Pequot - Uncas will face off this week when first place Ellington/Somers takes on second place Avon. Ellington/Somers last week, while Brett Quinion's team beat the Raiders.
