The South Webster Jeeps will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Rock Hill Redmen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Webster is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
South Webster has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 32 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-17 victory over Oak Hill. Given South Webster's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Oak Hill is ranked 799th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Webster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Skylar Zimmerman led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven steals. The game was Zimmerman's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Claxon, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Rock Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fairview 54-10 on the road.
South Webster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Rock Hill, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
South Webster didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Rock Hill in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Webster since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
